Baby, You Should Go & Love Yourself

We live in a society where self-image dominates our lives.

One of the daily challenges we face is trying to be ourselves in a world that tries to make us like everyone else. The media puts an immense amount of pressure on women to look their best. Your hair should look like this, your makeup should look like that, you need to have a waist chiseled from a corset and DD ta-tas with a round ass to accompany them. Ladies, apparently if we don’t all look like a Kardashian, we have nothing to offer. Now, while Kylie Jenner’s latest selfie of her pretty little face may attract your eye, let’s all remember that it’s not her real face. She wasn’t born with it, it’s definitely Maybelline (and the handy work of a skilled plastic surgeon). Screw society and the media with their “ideal image” that they continue to drill into our heads.perfect

I am not one to preach because I go through points where I stand in front of the mirror and body shame myself while picking apart what’s wrong with my facial features. I’m pretty sure we’ve all been there, done that. Today, I really started thinking to myself that it can’t just be the physical appearance that makes us attractive/unattractive as women. I REFUSE to believe that we live in a world where people are so shallow that they really think a woman is only enticing and captivating based on her physical appearance alone. So what is it then? What really makes a woman attractive or unattractive? What really turns men off? Are men preoccupied with finding a woman with the perfect body or are there other things that they look for? I went on Facebook today and asked the simple question of what made a woman less appealing. Would you believe, much to my delight, that not one person, male or female, named a single physical feature as a flaw? So what did people say?

Here’s what people’s thoughts were on what makes a person not so appealing:

Impolite, Abrupt and Just Plain Rude

Promiscuity

Nasty Attitude

Snarky

Judgmental

Negativity

Ignorance

Close-Minded

Smart-ass know-it-all

Obnoxious

Self Centered

No sense of humor

No Ambition

Selfishness

Cruel

Low Self-esteem

Pretty much summed up: Guys are really hoping you have a kick-ass personality to go along with your filtered IG selfie (#guilty).

Women, no matter their age, race, ethnicity or size all feel the stress of trying to obtain this somewhat impossible feat of perfection. STOP. We’re all fucking perfect. In every damn way. We’re all unique and bring different things to the table. As long as what we’re serving isn’t on the menu above, it doesn’t seem we have too much to worry about.pretty girls

Girls, please don’t take offense if you realize that you possibly possess any of these traits listed. I sure as shit do. We have all met up with some ass clowns at one point in our life and these past experiences leave us scarred in some way. But ladies, stop worrying so much about your physical appearance. It turns out that beauty on the inside is just as, if not more, important than a beautiful face. The designer dresses, a surgically enhanced face, perfect makeup, a size 0 waist and a nice rack shouldn’t be anyone’s main concern. You could be the most gorgeous woman in the world but if you don’t have a great personality and kind heart to go along with your looks, the reflection you see in the mirror doesn’t mean a thing. Worry about what’s inside also rather than only working on the outside. Resist the stereotypes and dammit, LOVE YOURSELF!

Sure, we all know that good looks attract the eye but a great personality is what attracts the heart. Looks fade with time, if all your emphasis is put into outer beauty what will you be left with?
