Finding true happiness and clarity is not something that comes easily to most people. In today’s society, most people are busy being stressed out, overwhelmed, overworked, or more focused on pleasing others rather than pleasing themselves. We tend to forget that our own happiness is important for our well-being and we deserve to live a life with inner peace and freedom from the stresses that come from outside forces.

Outside forces are things that are outside of ourselves, things we cannot control and we are completely powerless over. Most people find it extremely hard to admit powerlessness and waste too much time attempting to control situations that are impossible for us to control, like other people. We cannot control other people’s actions or feelings and sometimes realizing and accepting this powerlessness can be very difficult.

As I already stated, people seem to always be stressing out about their future or dwelling on their past. Even a week ahead of time is sometimes too much to concern ourselves with and focusing on what was or what happened even as little as yesterday is not good for the mind. The secret to achieving true happiness and peace of mind is to be present in the current moment and keeping things in the day. Keeping your head where your feet are is a great way to live. This means to live your life in the present day and not dwell on what was in the past or what will be in the future. Living your life this way will help you keep your mind at ease and when the mind is quieted, you will be able to see more clearly.

Having the ability to live in the present moment is just like any other skill and takes some practice. It is important to stay humble and grateful. It is also important to keep your mind, body, and soul healthy. Humans are made up of these three components. The mind is your knowledge and mental stability, your body is your physical strength, and your soul is your spirit, hope, and faith. Keeping all these aspects of yourself healthy is extremely important. To find true inner happiness and peace, you must learn how to exercise your mind, body, and soul as well as practice humility and gratitude. For me, I found that the best way to do this is through yoga.

Yoga is a spiritual and physical discipline, or exercise, that is commonly practiced for health and relaxation. It is a Hindu philosophy that teaches people how to experience inner peace through a system of exercises for mental, physical, and spiritual health.

The practice beganyoga-by-the-beach over 5,000 years ago with a group of physical (body), mental (mind), and spiritual (soul) practitioners from Northern India. The word yoga means spiritual discipline in Hinduism. The purpose of practicing yoga is to find self-enlightenment through exercise and meditation. There are five key components to yoga which are proper relaxation, exercise, breathing, diet, and thinking and meditation.

Yoga is an amazing form of meditation as well as physical exercise that does wonders for mental relaxation, physical health, and spiritual growth. Every aspect of this practice can help transform you from a stressed out, anxious person, into a calmer, more positive human being. Even something as simple as the breathing exercises found in yoga can really bring about a tremendous change in someone.

Sometimes people just need to breathe. Literally…breathe in (1, 2, 3), hold it, and breathe out (1, 2, 3). When you simply relax and concentrate on your breathing, you can open your mind to amazing possibilities. Through this meditation, you will learn to be humble and be grateful for this world, this life, and everything in it. This practice will show you how to be grateful in your present moment. To be thankful for being alive, being calm, and being thankful for having your stresses lifted away. You will start to see everything positive in your life and forget the negativity. Focusing on negative thoughts leads to stress and anger, and focusing on positive thoughts and energy leads to true inner happiness and peace. It may sound too good to be true. Some may not believe that yoga can bring happiness and inner peace into their lives. Faith and acceptance are very crucial here. You must have faith in yourself and have faith that something greater than you can and will bring peace and clarity to your life. You also must learn acceptance. Accept that you are powerless over outside forces and are only in control of your own thoughts and actions. Once you understand and gain faith and acceptance, then you will be able to adopt the concepts and principles practiced in yoga and meditation, allowing yourself to find true happiness and inner peace.
